How to Learn a New Sport: Lessons from Learning Four Sports in 2023
In my childhood, spent in a village in India, I was engaged in physical exercises due to farming. The games I played were wrestling and kabaddi, very popular in the rural parts of India. Now, I’m involved in the startup and tech world, so I rarely play wrestling, but I’ve taken to learning new sports that were previously missing from my life. In 2024, I learned four new sports, and as the year ends, I’m ready to compete with others in each game.
I started with table tennis, where my friend Sandeep and I bought a new table tennis table for our place. It was convenient because we just needed to go to the next room to play as much as we wanted. Second, I bought a Fitso subscription, where they provide multiple sports facilities with a coach. You can visit a nearby Fitso center with your equipment and play with others. The best part is they assess your skills through some questions and by watching you play for a while, and then they match you with other players of similar experience. If you’re a beginner, they’ll pair you up with another beginner, and so on.
